Rachel Pfleger is a French graphic designer with an established career in book design. Currently Senior Designer of London-based publisher Black Dog Publishing since 2006, she is also acting as a Creative and Art Director on her own projects.
After graduating from Ensci-Les Ateliers-Paris Design Institute (École nationale supérieure de création industrielle) in 2000, she freelanced for several clients in various areas such as publishing, identity, exhibition, and product design.
Her approach to design is underpinned by an attempt to evoke rather than emulate. To achieve this, she seeks to arrive at the archetype of her subject matter in order to refine an essential design. She stays away from banal referencing and therefore avoid caricature in her own work.
